Frustrated by his own college planning experience with his children and the limited strategies available in traditional financial planning to help his clients, several years ago Kevin founded Exodus College Planning, now a proud Better Business Bureau member. Kevin’s mission is to reach as many families as he can to help them overcome the college cost juggernaut creating challenges for so many families struggling to pay for college.
Whether ample monies are saved for college or not, Kevin provides families savings strategies and coaching to legally and ethically save ON college so parents don’t pay “retail” and get to rock-bottom cost. Some families are coached to significantly increase financial aid and merit scholarships, like pointing them to aid-rich colleges. Other families are shown strategies to get “tax” scholarships (isn’t a $3,000 reduction in taxes the same as a $3,000 scholarship). For business-owner families, the opportunity can be huge, as Kevin coaches strategies that can increase both financial aid and “tax” scholarships! Importantly, most of Kevin’s clients save tens of thousands in student loan interest by using the right strategies to pay for college. Yes, Kevin also helps families with FAFSA forms, but true college funding planning involves the above strategies and so much more!
Kevin graduated from Florida A&M University, and has an MBA from the Wharton School of Business. He is a former member of the Advisory Board at the Ulmer Career Management Center at the University of Louisville’s School of Business.
Kevin’s outside interests include active involvement in his church – where he is a member of the Scholarships Committee and the Budget Committee. Kevin is also the go-to college funding expert and a sponsor of “Turning the Tides” Financial Ministries. Via workshops and family resources offered across multiple states, this St. Louis-based entity has the mission of helping local church families experience financial health and wellness.
In his leisure, Kevin values reading and hot yoga. Kevin has been married over 30 years to his wife Phyllis, a healthcare marketing executive. Together they cherish time with friends and traveling, particularly to visit their “college-educated” children.
